The Dark Agenda of Vision 2047 and the Ongoing Crackdown on Extremism in India
Vision 2047 is a seven paged document prepared by Popular Front of India (PFI) a banned Islamic organisation
Understanding the Popular Front of India (PFI)
The Popular Front of India (PFI) is an Islamic organization that has been at the center of controversy in India. Established in 2006, PFI presents itself as an organization committed to the upliftment of marginalized communities, particularly Muslims. However, beneath this public facade, the organization has been linked to a series of extremist activities, leading to a widespread crackdown by the Indian government.
A Nationwide Crackdown Post-2022
In 2022, the Indian government launched an extensive crackdown on PFI, following years of growing concern over the organization's activities. This crackdown was fueled by accumulating evidence that PFI was involved in promoting radical ideologies and inciting communal violence. The National Investigation Agency (NIA), in collaboration with state police forces, conducted raids across the country, resulting in the arrest of several key PFI activists. The investigations revealed PFI's hidden agenda, ultimately leading to the organization being banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The government's actions were not just limited to arrests; they also included freezing PFI's assets, shutting down its offices, and detaining its leaders. These measures were crucial in curbing the spread of extremist ideologies that threatened India's secular fabric.
The Discovery of Vision 2047
One of the most alarming discoveries during these investigations was made by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). The ATS uncovered a document titled Vision 2047, which detailed PFI's long-term strategy for transforming India into an Islamic state by 2047. This document has since become a critical piece of evidence in understanding the organization’s extremist agenda.
Vision 2047 outlines a radical plan by PFI extremists to establish Islamic law across India by the centenary of the country's independence. The document is based on the belief that Muslim rulers governed India before British colonization and that the power was unjustly taken away by the British and subsequently by the Hindu majority post-independence.
The plan detailed in Vision 2047 includes several key strategies:
Creating Fear Among Muslims: PFI aims to instill fear in the Muslim community by spreading the narrative that the Hindus and Hindu nationalist organisations like RSS(Rasthriya Swayamsevak Sangh) wants to turn India into a Hindu Rashtra and expel Muslims. This fear-mongering is intended to rally the Muslim community to support PFI’s cause.
The Deceptive Facade: Although PFI claims to be a secular organization that upholds the Indian Constitution, Vision 2047 reveals that this is merely a facade. The document clearly outlines the organization's intention to establish Islamic dominance in India.
Surveillance and Data Collection: The organization has been systematically collecting data on Hindu institutions, RSS, and other Hindu organizations. This information is used to identify targets for potential attacks or to instigate communal violence.
Seeking External Support: The document also mentions PFI’s strategy to seek support from foreign countries like Turkey to bolster their influence and operations in India. Turkey’s influence is particularly notable, as it has a long history of positioning itself as the leader of the Islamic world, often meddling in the affairs of other nations to promote its agenda. Turkey is also known for its support of Pakistan, further complicating its involvement in Indian affairs.
The influence of foreign powers in creating communal discord in India is not new. A historical parallel can be drawn with the Mappila Rebellion of 1921 in the Malabar region of Kerala, which was partly fueled by the Khilafat Movement. The Khilafat Movement, a pan-Islamic campaign, sought to protect the Ottoman Caliphate and was strongly supported by Turkey. In Malabar, this movement escalated into the Mappila Rebellion, where the Muslim Mappilas, influenced by the Khilafat Movement, violently rebelled against the British and Hindu landlords. The rebellion led to widespread communal violence, leaving deep scars in the region's history.
The January Arrests: A Case in Point
The extent of PFI's involvement in extremist activities was further highlighted by a case in January when four individuals were arrested in Kerala by the NIA. On January 9, 2024, Saheer, the fourth accused in this case, was taken into custody. His bail application was later brought before the Kerala High Court on July 19. The NIA's investigation revealed a chilling conspiracy.
The final report, submitted by the NIA on January 12, indicated that the central government had received credible information about an ISIS/ISIS-KP module operating in secrecy within India. This module was engaged in activities prejudicial to India’s sovereignty, conspiring to target prominent members of society, and plotting attacks on religious institutions to incite communal disharmony.
The second accused in this case, who was associated with the Indian Fraternity Movement in Qatar, was found to have a history of involvement in criminal activities linked to PFI. While in Qatar, he had subscribed to the violent jihadi ideology of ISIS. He, along with the first accused, aimed to recruit people from Kerala to join ISIS. The fourth accused, Saheer, despite knowing that the second accused was a wanted criminal, provided him with shelter, phones, and other support, aiding in his illegal activities.
The group’s sinister plans included monitoring Hindu institutions and temples, a task aligned with PFI’s broader strategy of gathering data on Hindu organizations. This data collection was part of a larger plot to target and loot individuals associated with these institutions.
Conclusion
The discovery of Vision 2047 and the subsequent arrests of PFI-linked extremists underscore the serious threat posed by such radical ideologies to India's secular and democratic fabric. The central government's crackdown on PFI and related extremist elements is a crucial step in safeguarding the nation’s unity and diversity. As these cases unfold, they serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against extremism and the need for continued vigilance.
